1. How can we support play that is exciting but not dangerous? To look into this question, we worked with a group to construct a model race. The goal of this was to find a way to make races exciting for young children, so each group was instructed to make sure both racers in the model finished the race at the same time. To ensure that this happens, we decided to give one runner a 1 meter distance head start when running a 5 meter race. 2. In Thursday's lecture, we discussed many essential topics surrounding motion. First we discussed some important ideas that were excluded from our race models: the age of the racers, the actual racing speed, and any speeding up or slowing down. In addition, we practiced more examples of model races through a few different practice problems that were presented in class. 3.
